ABSTRACT
This study investigates into the effect of street hawking on academic performance of students a case study of some selected secondary schools in Oredo Local Government Area, Edo State. In carrying out this study, some research questions were postulated. Some of which are;
- Does parental level of financial well-being influence children street hawking business?
- Does street hawking influence the high rate of dropout, delinquency and truancy?
- Is it the parents that often provide the ware or articles of street hawking for their children?
- What is the level of academic achievement of children who indulge in hawking?
- What is the level of academic achievement of children who indulge in hawking?
The research instrument used included, questionnaires, interview and participant observation. The data analysis was done using the simple percentage tabulation method. In conclusion some recommendations were proffered for use.
